I absolutely love cookbooks, and over the years I’ve owned quite a few of them! I reach for them to find inspiration for meal planning, reference and sometimes just to look at the beautiful pictures of the tempting mouth-watering recipes! It helps that I love to prepare delicious meals for my family and gather around the table for great conversation, laughter and making memories!
A few years ago I thoughtfully pared down my collection. Was it difficult to let a lot of cookbooks go? Yes, it was difficult because they were all great books. It’s just that I wasn’t using them, they were stored downstairs in our storage room and I didn’t want to continue to dust and clean around them!
When I re-organized this cabinet, I left enough space for a few more cookbooks that I may decide to purchase. Actually, there are a couple I’m interested in right now! It’s a continual process as new authors come out with awesome cookbooks or one of my favorite chef’s publish a new cookbook.
Here are the kind of cookbooks that I keep in my kitchen:
- Frequently used; the ones with lots or earmarks, sticky notes and stains!
- Offer continual inspiration for menu planning.
- Great recipes that are simple with wholesome ingredients.
- Provides excellent techniques and tips.
- Fit nicely in a designated area.
- Adds a nice touch of personality and style!
As for keeping cookbook clutter at bay? Keep this in mind – if you haven’t used it in a really long time; it’s not inspiring you to cook and it’s truly just collecting dust – donate it! Someone else will enjoy it and you will free up valuable space and precious time! Also, remain disciplined and very selective while shopping. Will the book nicely fit, uncluttered, in your space? Is it a good and thoughtful purchase?
What type of cookbooks do you love to keep in your kitchen and how do you keep them organized?
Have a wonderful day!
