Chatting with my mother-in-law, she mentioned that she had too many books and was tired of how her bookshelves looked. Over the years she had collected many wonderful books but now, feeling overwhelmed, she was ready for a change!
I encouraged her to take a thoughtful look at her collection, start decluttering and keep only what was most meaningful and well-loved! And she took action!
Completing the process
Finishing the project, she was thrilled and called to share with me how the bookshelves turned out. She loves the bookshelves and made perfect use of this small alcove!
She couldn’t be more happy because she was able to free up extra space and decorate the shelves with her favorite books and a few treasured belongings!
Lastly, she mentioned that starting was the hardest part, but once done, it’s so satisfying. Now she’s starting on another area to go through! It’s incredibly motivating!
Books are wonderful
I love books and have acquired some treasures over the years! It’s wonderful arranging them thoughtfully and in a way that they can be enjoyed.
Using books in groupings adds warmth and color to various areas of our home! I can change it up when I want a different look and it keeps things interesting!
With all that said, I’ve learned to be very careful and diligent at keeping my collection at bay. And it’s hard, because I truly love reading and love all kinds of books!
This past year, I purposefully made it a point to visit our local library and borrow books when possible. It’s been a lot of fun and I enjoying going into town to browse the isles of the library!
