Happy 2022, friends!! January and the winter months are a great time for reflection, a fresh start, and moving forward on a great path for the new year.
But, first things first – post holiday clean up!
Post Holiday Clean Up
Although the Holidays are so much fun, when January comes around I’m ready to get the house back in order and restart my routines!
The first week of the new year
In our home, post holiday clean up begins during the first week of the new year! Decorations are put away and the gift wrapping area refreshed. Taking inventory of what I have and noting what needs to be replenished for next year is always helpful! We still have A LOT tissue paper, but we’re almost out of gift bags, tags and apparel boxes!
When our kids were little and had a lot of toys, we would spend time putting the new things away and donating the ones no longer used. It was a great time to teach them about donating belongings while the items are still good and useful so others can enjoy them! It was also a gentle reminder that they only have so much space for their things and when things get to cluttered it’s hard to enjoy any of it!
Now that our sons are older, we have less things to put away. However, we have a few more gifts that need to be exchanged or returned. They love to receive clothing, but sometimes I miss the mark on sizes and style! Not only is this a great time to get that done, as they will be heading back to college VERY soon, I can spend time with them and make it an event and grab lunch!
Christmas card and addresses
Lastly, I’ll take one more look at the beautiful Christmas cards we received, which is so enjoyable! I love reading the notes and seeing all the holiday photo cards! It’s also an excellent time to updated our address book.
With the post holiday stuff done, I can now settle back into routines and get the house back in order. I love coming up with a slight change in décor as I re-decorate and re-fresh our spaces! It’s fun! So…..
Now it’s time to move forward
Having a vision, goals, a solid plan and then taking the right steps to get there is an incredible journey and a life changing experience. Knowing where I’m heading, how to get there, and most importantly, confidently getting started, is what I need for a fresh start and moving forward towards the goals I set. And, here at All About Organized, we want everyone to experience that same joy in accomplishment. It’s simply wonderful!
